Novelty Asters
There are a vast variety of colors, shapes, and sizes of "Novelty" varieties of asters are available.
The F1 Hybrid Matusmoto Asters are, by far, the most widely grown and most popular. Most Novelty Asters are Hybrid "Callistephus" type asters.
Grading Information:
Novelty Asters should be graded by by stems of 5 and 10, minimum 70 cm.
South American production is usually bunched by 10 stems.
California Matsumotos are most commonly produced as "Spray Asters," with multiple long, lateral blooms, and are usually bunched by 5 stems.
South American Matsumoto Asters are usually bunched by 10 stems, with few or no lateral blooms.
